Justice Muhammad Ibrahim (1898–1966) had a distinguished and multifaceted career as a teacher, lawyer, public prosecutor, District and Sessions Judge, High Court Judge, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, and Law Minister of Pakistan in the first Cabinet of President Muhammad Ayub Khan, serving from October 1958 to April 1962.\r\n\r\nHis handwritten diaries, covering the years 1960 to 1966, partly document his tenure as Law Minister during the regime of General Ayub Khan, Pakistan’s first military ruler, and also include personal reflections.\r\n\r\nThese entries portray Justice Ibrahim as a committed Bengali nationalist who actively advocated for the political and economic rights of the people of East Pakistan. The diaries shed light on lesser-known historical events and developments during a critical phase of constitutional evolution in Pakistan. His constitutional proposals reflected the prevailing aspirations of Bengalis in East Pakistan, particularly his vision for a federal structure incorporating significant reforms in the proposed constitution.\r\n\r\nThese positions brought him into direct disagreement with his Cabinet colleagues, especially President Ayub Khan. As his demands remained unaddressed, he became increasingly disillusioned and ultimately resigned from the Cabinet in April 1962
