These poems are selected from hundreds written over the past several years. Delwar Hossain Khan writes primarily for himself, in moments of solitude—when he seeks distance from all distractions or feels the need to return to his inner self. He composes poems and creates sketches while travelling across the world, often in the confined spaces of airplanes or while waiting at airports between connections and missed flights.
He writes in Bengali, his mother tongue, as well. A collection of his Bengali poems was published some years ago. In that earlier work as well as in this volume, readers encounter not only a poet’s world of whispering trees, gleaming flowers, and lost summers, but also the mind of a visionary and philosopher whose reflections extend beyond this earth of unkind people and places
