This book has been planned and written for the students studying linguistic and elt courses at the public and private Universities in Bangladesh. It is expected to help especially the students of ba (Honours) in English ( course code: 1178) at the National University. It is constituted of nine chapters each beginning with the specification of the learning outcomes and concluding with the specification of the learning outcomes and concluding with tasks and practice assessing the Reader's learning achievement. Every chapter is devoted to a distinct area and or aspect of language and linguistics Broken into its basic topics and parts presented methodically, and defined and discussed in an easy clear and readers friendly manner
